本年度圖書館第二展-Clothing for the Future: Exploring Sustainability, Cultural Awareness, and Body Sensitivity through Virtual Reality！(服裝未來式：透過虛擬實境探索永續性、文化意識及身體正向自主性)-卓淑美老師協同外師展覽，於114/03/13~114/04/30，就在圖書館二樓藝術廊道盛大展出。

What is the color of the different cultures, love, and understanding in our virtual and digital age? And how do we embrace and cloth on our inclusive cultural understanding onto our physical/digital avatars? Embark on a journey through the virtual and digital world with Benedict Yu, a transdisciplinary visual artist who encompasses a rich cultural background traveling through France, Germany, Spain, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan. Recently he was invited to exhibit for Singapore Art Week in January and is currently having his solo exhibition in Seoul titled, “Candlelight in the Dark.” Using Virtual Reality (VR) and 3D painting, Benedict interviews and collects recorded stories in multiple languages to explore their unique cultural understanding of what is love and compassion.

This exhibition invites you to listen to these diverse stories from all over the globe in both their mother tongues and the common language English, fostering a collective effort to build a better cross-cultural environment for our virtual and digital future.

在虛擬數位時代，不同文化、愛與理解的數位色彩是什麼？我們又該如何將這種包容性的文化理解融入並穿戴於我們的實體與數位化身上？

我們邀請您一起與我們踏上一場虛擬與數位世界的探索之旅，與跨領域視覺藝術家 Benedict Yu 一同思考這些重要問題。Benedict 擁有豐富的文化背景，曾遊歷法國、德國、西班牙、韓國、日本、新加坡與台灣。近期他在一月受邀於 新加坡藝術週（Singapore Art Week）展出個展《狂想曲進行式》（In Reverie），以及目前正在首爾展出他的個展 《燭光映黑暗》（Candlelight in the Dark）。

透過虛擬實境（VR）與 3D 繪畫，Benedict 訪談並收錄來自世界各地的多語言故事，探索不同文化對於愛與關懷的獨特討論。這場展覽邀請您以各地母語與我們的共通語言英語，聆聽這些來自世界各地的多元故事，共同促進跨文化的交流，為我們的虛擬與數位未來建立更包容的環境。

Artwork 1：Stories in the Sky 空中裡的故事

This artwork documents a collection of 100 stories, shared in the form of paper boats floating within a virtual reality sanctuary. As part of the exhibition “In Reverie” in Singapore during 2025 Singapore Art Week, the artist interviews individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, preserving their voices within immersive virtual spaces. Audiences actively contribute by writing their own stories in their mother tongues accompanied with English translation, folding them into paper boats, and placing them within the physical exhibition. This interplay between the virtual and physical realms creates a bridge across cultures and languages, offering deeply personal narratives of resilience, identity, and human connection.

這件藝術作品記錄了一百個故事，以紙船的形式漂浮於虛擬實境之中。作為 2025 年新加坡藝術週 In Reverie 展覽的一部分，藝術家訪談來自不同文化背景的個體，並將他們的錄音保存在沉浸式的虛擬空間中。參觀展覽的觀眾也積極參與，透過自己的母語書寫故事，並附上英語翻譯，將其摺成紙船，並放置在實體展覽中。這種虛擬與現實空間的交織，搭建了一座跨越文化與語言的橋樑，呈現關於集體情感韌性、身份認同與人類連結的深刻個人敘事。

Artwork 2：Candlelight in the Dark 燭光映黑暗

This artwork captures the convergence and dissolution of two spiritual avatars as they embrace within a timeless virtual sanctuary. Stripped of physical boundaries, the luminous forms flicker and fade, embodying the fleeting yet profound nature of human encounters. These flames may represent oneself, a loved one, a stranger, or a distant soul whose presence is felt beyond words. Much like passing a candle’s flame from hand to hand, the work reflects an exchange of memory, presence, and shared light. In departure and remembrance, fear gives way to love, illuminating the unseen bonds that connect us across cultures, languages, and experiences.

黑暗中的燭光

這件作品捕捉了兩個靈性化身在永恆的虛擬空間中相遇、交融與消逝的瞬間。當物理界限被剝除，光影閃爍、浮現又消退，象徵人與人之間相遇的短暫卻深遠的意義。這兩道光芒可以代表自己、摯愛、陌生人，甚至是一位從未謀面的靈魂，但其存在卻能被深深感知。正如燭光的傳遞，這件作品展現了記憶、存在與共享之光的交換。在離別與回憶之間，恐懼轉化為愛，照亮我們超越文化、語言與經歷的無形聯繫。
